Reconditioning old batteries and reviving batteries which appear to be dead is not a major problem once you know how. To learn how to recondition batteries requires little outlay with many experts on the net giving the low-down for well under forty bucks. Once you have learned the methods (there are one or two, depending on the type of battery) the costs per battery are extremely low and the effort involved to recondition an old battery very low indeed.

If you learn how to recondition a battery, you may even find it to be a profitable business venture on a small or larger scale. Handy resources will be referred to later in the article.

Although it isn’t hard to recondition or revive a battery, excellence in anything should never be underestimated. To learn about battery reconditioning and restoring it to its former state, it is absolutely critical to understand the following.

Simple techniques to revive a completely dead battery back to 100% of its original charge capacity (full power) are readily available. It’s really not that difficult. Keep in mind that rechargeable batteries enable users to forget about power cables which hinder manipulation of power tools, for example and restrict movement of any device to length of the cable from a power source.

Think about how many devices requiring electricity for power are portable nowadays. Okay, the type of battery may vary – be it for a fork-lift, a cell phone, a golf cart, power tools or iPods, to mention just a few – but for each type of battery there are quick and easy ways to revive them. I would stress again that the methods are cost effective whether for purely personal use or for a business. Battery reconditioning can both save and make money.

To learn how to recondition automotive batteries, motorcycle batteries, marine batteries and motorized wheelchairs batteries is of great interest for people in all countries. In the States these batteries are expensive for any user and there will be an ever increasing market for reconditioned batteries when the cost of a new one is looked at. Conversely, there exists an ever increasing market in third-world countries where the price of a new battery is also prohibitive.

It is important to take on board that the unhealthy (if not dead) condition of a battery can be due to its charger which frequently malfunctions. But, much more frequently, it is the battery which is murdering the charger. So it is unfortunately common to find people replacing a perfectly good charger, in the belief that the charger is the problem, only to find it destroyed by the real culprit – the battery. Once a battery’s ‘natural’ lifespan has been exhausted it must be properly reconditioned in order for it not to be a threat to equipment and chargers.

It is also essential to know how to accurately measure the charge capacity of the battery in question. Of course this varies, but once you know precisely how much energy a battery can store at a given time, you can begin to assess the improvement you have made to its performance.

The importance of knowing how to revert a reversed cell cannot be overstated. It is one of the first things to evaluate about a dead battery. You won’t be able to do anything with it until you have fixed the reversed cell.

One of the best things to understand battery reconditioning is exactly why it is that a battery does need reconditioning. A new battery develops a memory effect but, guess what, reconditioning a battery properly should dispel this effect completely. (N.B. Lithium batteries are not so successful in this respect.) Now that is some feat and means it is possible to continually rejuvenate suspect batteries.

Battery reconditioning requires just a little knowledge and a few cheap tools. It is simply great to use around one’s own home and for family and friends. It can even turn into a nice little business.

by Timothy Payn, our hydrogen fuel editor

Some HHO conversion advice is useful. The first question is: is there such a thing as free energy? Well, no. But with an HHO conversion the motive power of the vehicle charges the battery via an alternator. The battery, in its turn, supplies and HHO generator with electricity which converts water into HHO. Clever, isn’t it?

More than three million folk worldwide think so. They are now driving HHO conversion vehicles which save them anything from 15% to 65% on gas pump bills.

How Does an HHO Conversion Work?

HHO conversion kits are add ons to existing gas and diesel engines. There is no need to alter the engine in any way. They can also be removed within minutes and the vehicle reverts back to just gasoline or diesel exactly the same as it ever was. Because the hydrogen elements of HHO are produced on demand, not stored, the system is entirely safe.

It takes up to a day for a beginner to make and attach an HHO conversion kit. Specialist electrical and automotive equipment are not needed. Most people have everything they need in their home toolbox. The cost of the parts comes to about $120, rising to $190 depending on the metal used for the catalyst. That includes everything. Occasionally some people get stuck and have to fork out another $100 for a mechanic’s labor.

The most important pert of the system is the generator. It is a small container made from high temperature resistant material such as CPVC. Inside this is mounted an electrode, either coiled or flat; opinion varies on which is more effective. It can be very rudimentary or reasonably complex to make and the choice of metal to be used must be decided upon.

A good downloadable manual will provide all the instructions requisite for a well made generator. It will also explain how to wire up the system so that each time the ignition is witched on a current is passed through the water contained in the HHO generator. The water reacts with the catalyst and hydrogen and oxygen fizz to the surface.

The hydrogen and oxygen are captured in a chamber where they reform to make HHO gas. This is then sucked off to the carburetor where it mixes with standard petroleum or diesel for combustion. That is where money starts to be saved. Not only is less gasoline used because a percentage of it is being replaced by HHO, but the HHO also burns four or five times more efficiently than the gasoline.

What are the Savings from an HHO Conversion?

The main savings gained from an HHO kit are obviously lower gasoline and diesel bills. These can be up to approximately 60% and about 35% on average.

But also to consider are an extended engine life because hydroxy gas is so much easier on the gaskets and working parts of an engine. Also, a great cash back, if you will, is the $2,000 tax refund the IRS doles out for each and every vehicle running with an HHO conversion.

Although some attention to detail is required, for which an HHO manual will be necessary, the basic design of an HHO system is uncomplicated. Virtually everyone has the tools at home to be able to construct and install an HHO kit. Nor is a car mechanics course needed. Even if you do get stuck, a qualified mechanic should only charge about $120 for labor.

by Timothy Payn

A good HHO conversion should be properly researched. Even better to get one of the numerous HHO conversion manuals available nowadays for download from the internet.

Tax

We all know we already pay too much tax. If you do a calculation over say 30 years of what you have contributed to the system and what you have received back from it, you will normally be left scratching your head.

Fuel Prices

Now we are having to suffer the ravages of extortionate fuel prices. Of course they are always bound to fluctuate but there is a general upward trend which is unlikely to be abated as natural resources become harder to extract. On top of that, pollution and global warming are a concern for many and have certainly taken center stage over the last decade.

IRS Rebate for HHO Conversion

Well, one way of fighting back against OPEC et al, improving the environment and getting something back from the government ($2,000 in fact) is to install an HHO conversion kit in your car or truck. You can then begin the use less gas and replace it with essentially free HHO gas produced from good old H2O.

Savings

The savings on gasoline can be up to 65%. This comes from simple replacement of gasoline with HHO but also from the fact that HHO and its variants burn up to 6 times more efficiently than petroleum. The only emission from HHO gas once it is burned is water. So no harmful carbon and carbon monoxide emissions.

HHO Conversion System Design

Although some attention to detail is required, for which an HHO manual will be necessary, the basic design of an HHO system is uncomplicated. Virtually everyone has the tools at home to be able to construct and install an HHO kit. Nor is a car mechanics course needed. Even if you do get stuck, a qualified mechanic should only charge about $120 for labor.

Costs

The parts for the entire system cost about $130. You can find them on the internet and at larger electrical, plumbing and hardware stores. The design centers around an HHO generator.

Hydrogen Generator

The generator is a small reservoir to hold the water and contains a catalyst. When the generator is wired to the vehicle’s battery and the ignition switched on, an electric current flows through the water which then reacts with the catalyst. Hydrogen fizzes off the negative terminal and oxygen from the positive terminal.

Oxyhydrogen

Once these two gases break free of the surface of the water, they reform and produce HHO or Brown’s gas, call it what you will. And that is it. The gas is then sucked off to the vehicle’s engine, via a vaporiser and the carburetor, where it combines with normal gasoline to power the vehicle.

Electrics

A simple electronic control unit is also necessary to connect all the wiring and maintain a regular current.

Maintenance

The system does not require maintenance as such, although it will need cleaning from time to time. If the HHO installation is properly designed, this should take no longer than ten minutes every two to three months.

by David Payn

Anyone can own an HHO car for less than many people’s weekly grocery bill. The materials necessary for an HHO conversion cost less than $120. The trick is knowing how to build and fix the system to an existing gas or diesel engine.

More than 350,000 US citizens now have an HHO hybrid of their own.

Of course HHO or hydrogen as a means of providing motive power has been around for ages. But it is only in the last three or four years that people have become interested in having an HHO car.

Gas prices have risen, so most of us are looking for ways of making savings. An HHO kit is an excellent way of cutting gas bills by up to 60%.

The system is tucked away under the hood and only uses plain water and a small electric charge from the battery. No hydrogen is stored within the vehicle. Rather a reservoir containing a quart or so of water contains a catalyst with which the H2O reacts as it receives the electric current. Hydrogen is given off the negative terminal and oxygen from the positive terminal. These gases rise to the surface and reform as HHO or variations of HHO.

The HHO is then vacuum sucked from the generator, via a bubbler, to the carburetor. It then mixes with standard gasoline or diesel, thus reducing the amount of gas or diesel required to power the automobile. In fact HHO burns up to six times better than gasoline. Plus, it is completely free.

Currently no HHO car is available running solely on hydroxy gas. Unfortunately it becomes much more difficult without some petroleum. But practically that does not matter terribly much. The great thing about an HHO kit is that it can be inserted into any standard production engine without the need to convert the engine in any way.

Of course, a good HHO kit guide is essential. It will show you where to source the materials and how to build the system. You can even pass the guide to a good mechanic and get him or her to do the lot, probably for around $350 for labor and materials.

The basic elements necessary for an HHO hybrid are the generator, already discussed, and a module to control the electrical circuitry. Along with connecting the ignition, the battery and the HHO generator, the module also earths the circuit. It should be capable of monitoring and adjusting the amperage flowing through the water in the reservoir.

Cleaning the catalyst regularly is important as ferrous oxide builds up. That is why the reservoir is often held in a metal cradle. It facilitates easy removal of the unit. To reduce the need to clean too often, the water should be replenished every two weeks or so.

That said, cleaning the electrode is not very onerous and only takes five to ten minutes. It may be a slight oversimplification of the process, but that is about all there is to HHO car conversions.

by Timothy Payn

BEST HHO GUIDES LISTED HERE

It is astonishing that no automobile manufacturer is producing a hybrid HHO vehicle. It is so cheap any easy to do and offers gas saving of up to 60%. It is not even as if they would have to change much on their production line. An HHO auto simply has an add on to its existing gasoline engine. But then, that is the way of the world, isn’t it? It is like light-bulbs designed to blow after a certain period of time.

It is also fascinating to know that HHO technology, or water technology as it is often called, has been around for over a century. It seems that until recently oil has been in such plentiful supply and cheap enough for manufacturers to overlook the option of water power. Yet it is such a simple system. For now I will confine myself to the one possibility available today: a kit form of HHO.

Kits are added to standard gas or diesel engines. No modifications are necessary. The only connections are to the carburetor intake hose, the vehicle’s battery and the ignition system. It is not at all complicated and entirely safe. No hydrogen is stored on board the vehicle, so there are no flammability issues.

Advantages and Methods of an HHO Vehicle

The main advantages of an HHO car or truck are savings on gas and a rebate from the IRS to the tune of $2,000. Other bonuses are increased engine life span, decreased engine noise and an improvement in pulling power and acceleration. It is also very cheap to make: under $150. You may want to add another $150 to that if you need a mechanic to help out.

At the heart of an HHO vehicle is the generator. With the aid of a good instruction manual, anyone can build an HHO generator, even if they need a little help from their garage. No specialist tools are required and all the materials are available from hardware and plumbing suppliers.

The generator comprises a reservoir made from high temperature resistent material (CPVC, for example) and an electrode. The car’s battery is wired to the reservoir and an electric current is passed through the water when the ignition is activated.

The water then reacts with the catalyst, producing hydrogen from the negative terminal and oxygen from the positive terminal. These rise as gas to the surface of the liquid and reform as variations of HHO. This hydroxy gas is then sucked into the carburetor via a bubbler. The bubbler is only there to prevent moisture from entering the carburetor.

Because ferrous oxide builds up on the catalyst, it is prudent to place it in a cradle to easily remove it for cleaning. A good way to avoid too much ferrous oxide build-up is to empty and replace the water every two or three weeks.

The electrical circuit is controlled by a very simple unit which also earths the entire system. It is very useful if you can control the amperage via the unit. It only costs a few dollars more to include this facility. It really is about as simple as that to make an HHO vehicle.

by Timothy Payn

HHO conversion kit assembly is far easier than most people think. Like most things, you still need decent instructions. In fact, after thirteen HHO conversions of my own, for friends and family, I still need to periodically refer to one of my manuals.

CONVERSION MANUALS

Any kit will work quite adequately, but as technology improves it is worth getting the latest instructions available. A proper working HHO conversion kit should comprise of an HHO generator, a vaporiser, an electronic control unit, an electrical circuit and a few feet of hose.

The vehicle’s battery and ignition system are connected to the electronic control unit and HHO generator. The hose passes via the vaporiser to the carburetor’s intake hose.

Just out of interest, the top US states for HHO conversion, in descending order are Florida, Texas, Minnesota, Idaho and New York. Most kits are fitted to a Ford, GM, Toyota and VW vehicles.

The materials should cost between $100 and $200, depending on whether you choose platinum or stainless steel for your catalyst. Although a standard household toolbox should contain everything necessary for construction, if you really do need the help of a mechanic, he shouldn’t charge more than about $150 for assembly and fitting. This compares with spending over $6,000 on a pre-built kit which will perform no better than making your own.

Bear in mind that the IRS will give you a tax deduction of $2,000 if you add an HHO system to your vehicle. Look up their site. You will need to retain all your receipts as proof of conversion.

Elements of an HHO Conversion Kit

The generator is the most crucial component. It comprises of a housing and a catalyst. The housing must be capable of coping with very high temperatures. Something like CPVC is ideal for this. A catalyst, or electrode, is placed within the casing. As an electric current, drawn from the vehicle’s battery, is passed through the water in the casing, the water reacts with the catalyst and HHO is formed.

This oxyhydrogen gas rises to the surface and is passed via the vaporiser to the engine. This gas burns four to five times better than gasoline, which is where the savings are made. Refer to your manual for the best type and design of catalyst. They are quick and easy to make (or simply buy) but opinions vary on the best material and design.

The vaporiser, or bubbler, is positioned between the generator and carburetor hose simply to avoid moisture entering the engine. They can be bought for a few dollars.

The control unit basically controls the electrical circuit and earths the system. They can be bought off the shelf or made yourself. A good unit will allow you to monitor and adjust the amperage passing through the water. If your own design looks fairly crude, you may want to mount it beneath the dashboard or in the glove compartment.

HHO conversion kit assembly really is as simple as that.

Learn more about the top 5 HHO guides here.

This is great news for those who want to be less reliant on foreign countries for oil. If half the population of America fitted an HHO kit to its car or truck, the USA would be entirely self-sufficient in this area of fuel consumption. With an HHO kit, the average increase in miles to the gallon for a diesel or gas engine is 43%.

HHO car kits are now so easy to make nearly a million people worldwide have made their own. At present the choice is fairly stark. You can buy one for over $5,000 or make your own for under $150. Add another $150 to that if you need the help of a mechanic. It will work as well as one bought off the shelf.

Good manuals for hho car kits can be found via CARS PLUS.

[Author: Timothy Payn]

I favor making your own and then claiming the $2,000 tax rebate the IRS offers to car owners who have installed HHO car kits. It is is really quite straightforward. With a decent manual you can do it yourself or ask your local mechanic.

HHO Car Kits Advantages

HHO car kits are designed to augment the fuel efficiency of a vehicle. They act in conjunction with normal gasoline or diesel. Hydroxy gas burns four times better than gasoline thus increasing miles to the gallon. However, currently the water reservoir required to run a vehicle entirely on hydrogen (without having to store it on board) would be too large for practical purposes. Nevertheless, HHO car kits can provide a hybrid solution which can cut gas bills at the pump by between 20% and 45%.

The Inland Revenue Service kindly offers installers of HHO gas kits $2,000 as a tax refund. Keep all your receipts and look up irs.com. We all need to think about money and take the breaks as they come along.

Cars and trucks run with the aid of HHO gas kits demonstrate remarkable improvements in acceleration and pulling power (torque). Hydroxy gas does improve performance. Not just that, but the engine becomes quieter too.

Engine life has been proven to be increased by as much as 80% when using HHO. So that’s savings on gas, money back from the IRS and a longer lasting vehicle.

HHO Car Kits Basics

A good HHO car kits manual will explain everything that is necessary in detail. Every manual needs to include the following.

An overall view of HHO technology is not necessary but important. An HHO car kits manual should demonstrate how HHO and the by-product hydroxy gas are produced. The brains of an archbishop are not strictly necessary, but a basic understanding is a good idea.

Four basic elements are required for HHO car kits; a battery, a vaporiser, an HHO generator and an electrical control module.

The battery is child’s play. The electric current is simply drawn off from the vehicle’s existing battery. It all needs to be earthed and that is part of the function of the ECM (electric control module).

The vaporiser, or bubbler, connects between the generator and the carburetor. It is not essential, but it does prevent any moisture entering the carb.

The HHO generator is obviously the hub of the whole system. It holds about a liter, or less, of water and contains an electrode with which standard tap water reacts to form HHO. Hydroxy gas emerges at the surface of the liquid and is then vacuumed off into the internal combustion engine.

The last word goes to the ECM. It is available from a decent hardware store or can be made yourself. It should have an amp display and the facility to control the amperage supplied to the reservoir.

Apart from some electrical wire and hose, that is about all that is required for HHO car kits.

Hydrogen fuel conversion kits may well become the single most important product of 2009. There are a number of ways to produce either hydrogen (or orthohydrogen) or electricity to power a vehicle. Most hydrogen fuel conversion kits currently available produce hydrogen on demand as H2O is split within a hydrogen cell.

A resume of the best HHO conversion guides HERE.

[Author: Timothy Payn]

Although they can only supply a part of the vehicle’s fuel requirements, they are very cheap to make, easy to fit and produce gas savings of up to 60%. Gasoline is still needed, but in reduced quantities. The main alternative is a complicated system which stores hydrogen on board, which is used in combination with oxygen to generate electricity.

Hydrogen Fuel Conversion Kits: Orthohydrogen or Electricity?

The first thing to note is that the two systems are fairly similar in the way they work. While the electric option uses a proton exchange membrane, both systems have an electrolyte. The electrolyte splits molecules into positively charged hydrogen ions and negatively charged electrons.

To concentrate on the simple method which produces oxyhydrogen (or Brown’s gas), a stainless steel or platinum catalyst is placed within the cell, normally created from CPVC housing. About a quart of H2O, normal tap water is fine, is added. When a 13 amp electric current is passed through the water, hydrogen fuel is produced, bubbles to the surface and is drawn off. This is then mixed with standard gasoline via the carburetor.

Requirements for Hydrogen Fuel Conversion Kits

In addition to a manual (for you or your mechanic) there are three elements necessary for hydrogen fuel conversion kits. The main part is the HHO cell. As discussed, this is made from a high temperature resistant casing and contains an electrolyte connected to the vehicle’s battery. The total cost is about $60.

The second component is a simple vaporizer, located between the cell and carburetor. The total cost is around $15. The last piece is an electronic control unit. This connects the battery, HHO cell and ignition fuse and can control the amperage. It also earths the entire system. The cost of this is approximately $50. And that’s it.

Benefits of Hydrogen Fuel Conversion Kits

Hydrogen fuel kits offer savings on gas of between 20% and 60%, depending on size and tuning. For many people that can come to more than $500 a month. Tax rebates from the IRS amount to $2,000 per vehicle. Ensure you retain receipts for your manual and parts as proof of the conversion. It is restricted to one time per car, but considering you have only spent a little over $100 for a kit, you have made a whole pile of cash before you even start saving on gas.

The other benefits that make hydrogen fuel conversion kits so popular are reduced insurance premiums, increased engine life, a quieter engine and increased acceleration and torque.
